These are latest adventures in Cape Town. The first pictures os of the African penguins on Boulders beach. They are onlt little! Next is us at Cape Point which is mistakenly thought of by a lot of people as the Southernmost point of Africa. Contact me to my facebook account if you know the correct answer!! After that is Jen at the wine testing in Durbanivlle Hills winery. She may look a little drunk but I can assure you she is not! She is bringing us the wine so we can figure out which one it is. Next up is Jen looking lovely and pregnant in our back garden here in Cape Town. She is due in 4 days (28th Dec 2010). The last couple of photos in this post are of Nelson Mandela's cell on Robben Island, the lime quarry where the prisoners worked on Robben Island and also the view back to Cape Town and table mountain from Robben Island.

An update!!

Jennifer looking all beautiful and pregnant!

Nov 7th 2010: Joe in the half marathon. 30 degree heat at 7am!

Coming in to finish after losing the crown of first 'mazungu' to my running buddy Peter (who is in the picture clapping me in). Hopefully this is not an ominous sign for the Ashes as Peter is from the land of Oz!

Thinking I can improve my position by one place but the little man saw me coming!

Tired but happy. About 30 secs faster than last year so all good.

October half term with Joe's mum and dad: Mvuu Lodge in Liwonde National Park with plenty of hippos and crocs.

One of the big five!

The one tusked elephant and what a whopper it is.

Getting the good shots.

At Zomba now and getting some fruit and veg delivered to the door.

View from the plateau. It is called Emperor's View after Haile Selassie who visited the spot.

We got caught up in a forest fire and ended up staying on the mountain for a whole night!! Very very scary but we all survived. I have a 3000 word story about so if you want to spend 10 minutes reading then let me know and I will e-mail you the tale of the eventful night.

Our car is in the middle of this fire (but amazingly survived)

The night after staying on the mountain. What a contrast. Having dinner at the beautiful Satemwa tea estate.

Our room at Satemwa.

Overlooking the tea estate.

Quad biking around the estate.

Tea tasting.

The local delicacy, mouse on a stick!!! About 30p for 3; bargain.

Zambia

Well, that has taken an age to download the photos! I hope you enjoy them. For our Easter holidays we went to Zambia and Victoria Falls. Below are some photos.

The first one is of the Eastern Cataract of Vic Falls. This part is dry for about 6 months of the year but right now it is at its fullest.

This is the bridge that Cecil Rhodes had built which now connects Zambia to Zimbabwe. The bungee jumpers go from here. I managed to escape having to do it although Jen was up for it!

The edge of the falls are just over the back of me about 10 metres away. Aaaggghhh.

We took a helicopter ride over the falls which was very good. Only 15 minutes but that was actually enough to time to take it all in.

We also did a lion walk with a couple of 18 month old lionesses. Was slightly intimidating but overall it was good fun.

We went into Botswana for a day to go to Chobe National Park (pictures of elephants below). This was the ferry across the Zambezi which you have to take between countries.

We stayed 35km upstream from Vic Falls at a place called Bovu Island. This is our accommodation which looked out over the Zambezi.

This is our transport to get onto the island!

Our fishermans hut

Having a traditional meal of Nshima (maize) and vegetables with the local Pastor.

This is a fish eagle we saw at Chobe National Park in Botswana.

Lots of crocs
